I’ve always liked the idea of owning a bar.
Or a restaurant.
Or, even more ambitiously, a tequila or whiskey company.
Now, the idea of running a restaurant or bar? Not so much. Owning, yes.
And, I have to say.
I think an olive oil company pretty much checks this personal goal off of my (Kyle’s) personal bucket list. And, as a bonus, olive oil is significantly healthier for me, personally, than owning say, a tequila or a whiskey company.
Goodness knows the kind of trouble I’d get into all the time if I owned any of the above.
Perhaps olive oil will make me an angel.
Anyways, on to the actual point of this email…
Namely, how many people have huge goals in their life. And many times, many people fail to actually reach them. And, in today’s world, it’s becoming increasingly difficult because of several factors:
- #1 is the general “social media poison” that plagues our modern society. When you look online, there’s always SOMEBODY who is so far ahead of you in life that you just can’t help but despair. Whereas before the internet, it was just a matter of keeping up with the Joneses down the street. Now you gotta keep up with every Jones on the internet. Impossible.
- #2 is the nutritional and environmental factors that we’re constantly putting in our body.
Let me explain:
2.5 years ago, I moved from California — where I’d spent the first 24 years of my life — to Eastern Europe. The first place I lived was Krakow, Poland.
And I remember the first time I ever went to the store and bought some very simple ground beef.
I didn’t cook it for maybe two days.
And after those two days, something started to smell a bit funky in the fridge…
Sure enough, it was the beef.
This amazed me. I’d always been able to buy ground beef at Vons in California, and leave it in my fridge for at least 5 days, maybe a week. At first I was mad, I thought I’d been sold junk. But, over the course of that first month in Poland, I began to realize that many of the foods spoiled much quicker than they did in the States.
Simply put, there’s all sorts of chemicals that go into North American grocery products to make them last longer, make profits phatter, and many of them have the downside of making you feel badly. Just icing on the cake.
And you know what this does?
It makes you slow.
All of which…
Yeah, will prevent you from reaching your goals in life.
So, while olive oil is checking off my personal bucket list (as well as Martin’s family’s goal of bringing their product to the world, I’m sure…), maybe — just maybe — olive oil can help you reach your goals, too.
Maybe it’s the first ingredient towards cleaning up your diet.
Or maybe your gut health improves using it in place of canola or soybean oil.
Us here at Selo Oils won’t make any promises on that.
But, we sincerely hope it does help.
That’s why, yes, our product is expensive — but it sort of…well, has to be. As of now, we don’t have a way to get it to you any cheaper. Perhaps one day. But for now, think of the high price as the assurance that you’re getting the real stuff.
The stuff that gets you to your goals.
That doesn’t drag you down.
The Selo Story is just starting.
Thanks for being a part of it.
